Presence is a free iPhone and iPad app that records a rehearsal, pitch or mock interview and scores how you delivered it across 21 measures of timing, voice, word choice and body language. Every score comes with a plain-language explanation and one thing to try on the next take.

Yes. Presence is free to download and use. There is no subscription, no in-app purchase, no advertising and no tracking.

A voice recorder hands the audio back to you and a transcription app hands the words back. Presence scores the delivery itself, telling you that you ran at 178 words per minute, spent four percent of the take in silence and said um eleven times, and pins each of those to the exact second in the transcript.

A built-in library of more than 200 frameworks, principles, techniques and exercises for speaking, with new ones added regularly. After each recording Presence recommends the entries that match whatever scored lowest, so the reading follows the recording rather than sitting in a separate list.

No. Presence ships with 186 ready-to-read practice scripts and 150 curated questions across 14 categories, job interviews, sales pitches, toasts and speeches, difficult conversations, dating, networking and more, so there is always something to record against, even with nothing prepared.

A script is a full example, already written out, read it aloud the way it is written to practice delivery. A curated question is something to answer on the spot, in your own words, closer to how an actual interview or conversation would put it to you.

Yes. From the Record screen or a recording list’s menu, choose Import and pick an audio or video file already on your device. If the file has video, choose whether to keep it or extract just the audio, then Presence scores it the same way it scores a recording made in the app, so a take you already have doesn’t need to be recorded again.

Most speech and interview coaching tools upload your audio or video to a server to score it, which means an account, a network connection, and your rehearsal living on someone else’s infrastructure. Presence scores the recording on the device itself, using Apple’s on-device speech and vision frameworks: no account, no upload, and it works with no internet connection at all. The tradeoff is the reverse of what cloud tools offer, nothing is backed up off the device, so a deleted recording is gone for good.

No. Recordings stay on the device and are analysed there using Apple’s on-device speech and vision frameworks. Presence has no account system, sends no audio or video to a server, and deleting a recording in the app removes it for good.

Presence may send anonymous counts to Zatech’s own server, such as how many times a screen was opened or whether a recording was saved. They never include your recordings, transcripts, scripts or names, and nothing in them identifies you or your device. There is still no account, no advertising and no tracking. Yes. Because the analysis runs entirely on the device, Presence records and scores a take with no internet connection at all.

21 measures in four groups. Timing: pace, pauses and sentence length. Voice: intonation, vocal range, volume consistency, tone and opening energy. Words: fillers, hedging, emphasis, absolute language, word variety and confidence. Body language: eye contact, blink rate, expressiveness, fidgeting, gestures, posture and stability.

Mostly how you say it. Presence scores delivery: timing, voice, word habits such as fillers and hedging, and body language. It does not grade whether your answer was relevant, well structured or the right story for the question, so a strong score on a weak answer is possible. For the content, ask another person to listen and challenge you with follow-up questions.

Both. Record with the camera and Presence adds seven body language measures: eye contact, blink rate, expressiveness, fidgeting, gestures, posture and stability. Eye contact is measured from head pose rather than from eye tracking, so it reflects where you were facing rather than exactly where you looked.

The score itself is a count, but every filler is pinned to the exact second in the transcript, so you can see whether they are spread evenly through a take or bunched into one stretch. A handful scattered across ten minutes reads very differently from the same number landing in a single answer, and only the transcript view shows you which one you actually did.

Not plain "like", currently. The Fillers measure counts non-word sounds such as um, uh and hmm, plus drawn-out stretches like "liiike" or "sooo". Plain "like" and "so" are left out on purpose, because in most sentences they are real words ("I like this plan", "so we left"), and a false mark costs more trust than a missed one. The Hedging measure separately flags phrases such as "you know", "I mean", "sort of", "kind of" and "I feel like", and shows where they fall in the take.

Presence runs on iPhone and iPad running iOS 26.0 or later.

The app interface and its full Learn library are available in 21 languages: English, Dutch, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Polish, Russian, Turkish, Arabic, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Thai, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese. Recording analysis, the transcript and every measure scored from it, currently works with English speech, whichever of those languages the app itself is set to.
